Air source heat pumps extract air from the external environment in order to warm a liquid refrigerant.
Using electricity, the pump applies pressure to the liquid, resulting in an elevation in its temperature. Subsequently, the liquid undergoes condensation, transforming back into its original liquid state and releasing the accumulated heat.
Hot water that has been stored can be utilized for taking showers, baths, and filling up taps.
To provide warmth, heat is distributed to radiators or underfloor heating systems. Any excess heat is then stored in a hot water cylinder.
How Heat Pump Work – How ASHP Work?
How air source heat pump – ASHP works by extracting heat from the outside air by drawn in over evaporator – network of tubes filled with refrigerant gas which circulate at -28°C or more.
Then the refrigerant gas passes through a compressor which increases the pressure and temperature causing it to change the state from cold gas to a hot liquid.
The compressed hot liquid passes into a heat exchanger where a circulation pump moving the heated water from heat exchanger into the central heating system radiators, underfloor heating and to the hot water cylinder which is your hot water taps.
After the refrigerant releases the heat in the heat exchanger will change the state back into a cold gas and start the cycle all over again.
Does an Air Source Heat Pump – ASHP Work in Winter?
Yes, the Air Source Heap Pump – ASHP installed by Anton Renewables is working in winter up to -20°C. When we design the ASHP for your property we making sure that the rooms will be reaching the designed temperatures. When the weather become colder then the ASHP needs to work harder so the efficiency drops, but your home stay warm.
Air Source Heat Pump Maintenance & Servicing
Servicing / Maintenance of Air Source Heat Pump – ASHP is essential as during the service we will test and check the system, clean the filters, remove debris from the evaporator which will prolong the lifespan of the Heat pump. Regularly maintain / service ASHP will last between 15-20 years. The annual service needs to be carried out by a qualified MCS heating engineer. When Anton Renewables install the ASHP we will reduce the first 2 annual services to £125 +VAT

Disadvantages
How does an air source heat pump work?
The air source heat pump absorbs outside heat, even when it’s -20C.
The air is converted into a fluid, heated with a
compressor.
And sent to your home’s heating
and hot water networks.
